Anna Makeeva

About

Anna was born in 1990 in Russia. She studied at an art school, graduated from the University of Architecture and Design with a degree in Master of Design.

Anna always had a love for art in all its manifestations. She designed window displays, studied vector and digital illustration, studied digital animation, created patterns and more.

Anna has been living in London for 3 years. She realized that creating paintings is exactly what she is ready to do all her life. This sphere helps to reveal her unique set of skills.

In her paintings, she explores the belonging of people to communities and the influence of social life on the individual.

Artist Statement

People come together in communities consciously and unconsciously.

From birth, you belong to the community of children, then to the community of students, either as a speaker of your native language or as a member of the nationality in which you were born.

As a person grows, hobbies, and social status change. If you have your favourite interests, you become an amatuer in swimming, programming, cooking, etc. Having basic skills in any area makes you a member of a community of knowledgeable people.

By studying a particular area of interest for a long period, you become one of the masters in your field. When you study a specific area of interest for a long time, you become an expert in that field. Enthusiasm and passion of newcomers and experience of experts is a reason for the development and improvement of communities in general.

All our skills grant us unique experiences that help us find connections with other people and develop our society.
